Migraine is a headache that attacks some heads. When you get a migraine, the head becomes sore, throbbing, and the body feels like it only wants to rest all day until the migraine disappears.
US MensHealth says migraines can occur at any age. "As many as 30 to 40 percent of men experience migraines in the age range of 20 to 40 years," said Gary Jay, a neurologist at UNC Health Care.
When we get a migraine and don't get the medicine, there are several ways to overcome it. But beforehand, first identify what causes migraines. Migraine can be described as a headache on steroids.
"Pain due to migraines makes one side of the head feel throbbing. The duration lasts from four hours to three days," explained Zubair Ahmed, a neurologist at the Cleveland Clinic.
Pain due to migraine will worsen if the person is still doing physical activity, seeing the light, the sound of the cheeks, and the stinging smell. There are even some people who get nausea and vomiting.
The presence of migraines can also be preceded by an aura. As many as 20 percent of migraine sufferers feel it. According to Jay, aura is a change in visual ability, sensory, cognitive, and / or speaking. "Aura comes five minutes to an hour before the migraine attacks," he explained.Based on information from the American Migraine Foundation, migraines apparently can occur due to genetic factors. So, if one of our parents has a migraine, their children have the potential to experience the same thing.
The possibility of a migraine reduction reaches 50 to 70 percent. "Migraine is a genetic condition. Even if the patient has a healthy lifestyle or is taking medication, he can get migraine if his parents have a history of this disease," Ahmed said.
Apart from genetic factors, lifestyle is also the source of migraine headaches. Ahmed explained that a healthy lifestyle is the main foundation for controlling the occurrence of headaches. "Lack of exercise, lack of sleep, and feelings of trauma or stress can trigger migraines," Ahmed said.According to him there is no specific treatment that can reduce migraines. "There is no cure but we can manage the condition of ourselves and carry out a healthy lifestyle to minimize migraines," he said.
